When it comes to choosing an online degree or a traditional Campus based degree there are many factors that need to be considered. The first is obviously your current circumstances. If you are in a Job will your employer keep a place for you if you go to a traditional university? Some employers will give you a sabbatical and allow you to take the time off as they know it will benefit them in the future. Obviously if they won't and you really need to keep earning money then your only option will be taking your degree online.Cost is also a big factor that you will need to consider, a traditional degree course will prove to be much more expensive that an online degree. In addition to the tuition costs you will also have to find money for accommodation and food plus you day to day living costs. By taking your degree online you will be able to save a considerable amount of money as you will spend most of your time studying at home. Even with courses that expect you to attend classes a couple of times a year, known as low residency online courses, the time away from home is very short.
The next thing you should really consider is the time factor. Online university degrees can be completed much quicker that a degree taken on a university campus. Online degrees are completed considerable quicker than residential degrees, they are streamlined and you don’t have the time constraints caused by campus life and secondary courses. You can study in you own time and at your own pace. This often results in students completing several modules in rapid succession whereas their residential counterparts have to wait for the schedules classes and lectures.
The final thing to consider is the overall education experience. One area where online courses don’t measure up to residential courses is the extra curricular activities. If you are a very social person and enjoy many activities and meeting new people then it is worth considering a traditional university. While studying online has many advantages an active social life is most defiantly one of them!
